UNTERNEHMA WOS goes International!
International talents, inspiring conversations and a vibrant startup community: the special edition of UNTERNEHMA WOS brought together people from across the world to explore entrepreneurship in Carinthia.
Last week, the UNTERNEHMA WOS – International Edition turned the NEXUS Community Hub at the University of Klagenfurt into a buzzing meeting point for international talents, aspiring founders and ecosystem leaders.
What started as a special format quickly evolved into an inspiring afternoon full of conversations, curiosity and entrepreneurial energy.
Participants from many different countries joined to explore opportunities for starting a business, working independently or building their future in Carinthia.

A strong signal for international entrepreneurship
The idea behind this special edition was simple:
create a space where international professionals can easily connect with the institutions supporting entrepreneurship in Carinthia.
From the very beginning, the atmosphere was lively and welcoming.
Participants were eager to ask questions, exchange experiences and explore concrete opportunities for their entrepreneurial journeys.
It quickly became clear that the interest in building a future in Carinthia is strong — especially among motivated young internationals who bring diverse perspectives and skills to the region.
Insights from experts across the ecosystem
The keynote sessions provided valuable insights into the practical realities of working and founding a business in Austria.
Experts from legal, tax and international relocation backgrounds shared their knowledge and answered questions directly from the audience.
- Christina Feistritzer – Austrian Business Agency, WORK in AUSTRIA
- Julia Kusternigg – WERDNIG KUSTERNIGG Rechtsanwälte GmbH
- Selina Greile-Preßler – kth Die Steuerberater und Wirtschaftsprüfer
Their perspectives helped demystify topics such as residence permits, legal structures and tax considerations — crucial information for anyone considering entrepreneurship in Austria.
Open discussion and honest insights
The discussion panel brought together representatives from several key institutions within the regional ecosystem.
Instead of theoretical presentations, the conversation focused on real experiences and practical advice.
- Alexandra Truppe – Carinthian International Center
- Christina Feistritzer – Austrian Business Agency
- Julia Kusternigg – WERDNIG KUSTERNIGG Rechtsanwälte GmbH
- Paul Dobringer – Wirtschaftskammer Kärnten

The panel highlighted one important message:

Learning how to communicate your idea
One of the highlights of the afternoon was the interactive workshop
“Clear message. More opportunities.” led by Amir Mujkanovic (hobbypreneur.at).
In just 30 minutes, participants explored how to clearly communicate what they do, what problem they solve and why it matters.
Many professionals have strong skills but struggle to explain their value clearly.
The workshop showed how a simple and structured message can open doors to new opportunities.
Where real connections happen
The final part of the event — the speed networking session — transformed the room into a lively exchange of ideas.
Every ten minutes participants rotated to a new conversation partner, allowing them to connect directly with ecosystem representatives.
The result: dozens of conversations, new contacts and many concrete follow-up discussions.
Participants had the opportunity to speak directly with representatives from organizations such as:
- ABA – WORK in AUSTRIA
- build! Gründungszentrum
- Carinthian International Center
- Fachhochschule Kärnten
- Kammer der Steuerberater:innen und Wirtschaftstreuhänder:innen

A growing international community
The international edition of UNTERNEHMA WOS showed how powerful the combination of
global talent and a strong regional ecosystem can be.
What stood out most was the enthusiasm in the room: curious minds, open conversations and a shared motivation to build something meaningful.
Carinthia’s startup ecosystem continues to grow — and events like this demonstrate that the region is becoming an increasingly attractive place for international founders and innovators.

Thank you to everyone involved
A special thank you goes to all speakers, panelists and ecosystem representatives who shared their knowledge and engaged in open conversations throughout the afternoon.
And of course, a big thanks to the NEXUS Community Hub for hosting this special edition and creating the perfect space for exchange, inspiration and collaboration.
The energy and motivation of the participants made one thing clear:
the international startup community in Carinthia is growing — and the future looks promising.
